The problem
A national restaurant chain’s site in Glasgow city centre had broken tiles in the back of house, including missing wall tiles around a sink waste pipe. The damage was flagged on a recent internal audit, so it needed fixing properly before the next inspection. Broken and missing tiles in a kitchen area are hard to keep clean and can harbour dirt and moisture, which is why auditors pick them up.
Quoting from photos to save the site money
Instead of charging for an investigation visit, we priced the job from the photos the site sent us. That kept the cost down for the restaurant, and the site accepted the quote within 24 hours.
The work
Our team attended and worked within the parameters the site sets for tiling work, installing the tiles exactly as head office instructed so the repair matched the brand’s standards.
Freshly laid tiles and grout need time to set, and a busy kitchen doesn’t stop. To protect the work, we laid 18mm plywood over the floor tiles and fixed clear plastic sheeting over the wall tiles so the team could carry on trading without disturbing them. We returned the next day to remove the protection.

The result
The area is now compliant and passed the site’s next internal and external audits.
