Emergency Lighting Testing & Repairs for Restaurants

Emergency lighting testing, certification and repairs for restaurants and commercial premises in London, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Your legal duty

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 in England and Wales, and the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005, require the responsible person to keep emergency lighting in working order. In a restaurant, it is what guides staff and customers out safely if the power fails, so a failed fitting can be raised in a fire risk assessment or an inspection.

What testing involves

  • Monthly function test: a short test of every fitting and exit sign to check it switches to battery.
  • Annual full-duration test: a test of the full rated duration (usually three hours) to make sure batteries still hold their charge, in line with BS 5266.
  • Logbook and certificate: results recorded so you can show them to a fire officer, insurer or landlord.

Repairs and replacements

Failed batteries, broken fittings and dead exit signs are replaced by our engineers, often on the same visit. Because we also handle commercial electrical maintenance, any wider fault behind a failure can be fixed too.

Planned around your trading hours

The annual test leaves fittings needing time to recharge, so we schedule it after closing to keep your premises covered when customers are in. Testing can also be included in a PPM contract so it never gets missed.
